just curious if any other store owners who carry the trigon guide and or ride have noticed any problems relating to quality control in the collars in these two models.
especially noticeable in the larger sizes, the padding in the collar does not seem to be the same when comparing the left and right shoes side by side. also some shoes have significantly more padding than others.
of course my rep says that he has not heard this problem from anyone else.
well basically i think these shoes just suck in general. talk about a unique fit. i have noticed that the collar slips often, but haven't compared the left to the right -- i'll do that today and get back to you. also, the guide is even less supportive than the 766, making it pretty much useless. we have ours at $45 just to try and move them out. anyway, let me see what we find today.
Carry both the Trigon 3 Ride and Guide and have not noticed any quality control issues. Will examine further today at work.
We do ok with the trigon series but agree that the fit is funky and the guide is not very supportive. what are your thoughts on the current version of the omni? a better option for stability or have you found the same fit issues? we have to carry something besides the hurricane in that category for the saucony devotees who simply won't be talked into trying anything else.
We've have great response to all of the shoes mentioned here. No problems with the Trigon series- I'm guessing sales have doubled for that shoe since the newer model came out. There might be a little bit of extra material in the forefoot, but that is it in my opinion.
With the Omni, sales have probably tripled with this release. Our biggest problem with the old Omni was the shoe didn't fit, it was super firm, and was clunky. The heel is so much narrower now, and the shoe has been softened up a lot, that we have no problem pulling it out quite often. In fact, I think it is our 3rd best selling shoe, behind the 2110 and Adrenaline.
Looking forward to the better Hurricane as well...

i think the reason that the guide is not as supportive as it is meant to be is that dual density foam does nothing if the upper of the shoe hangs over the edge of the midsole. kind of reminds me of the 765. what a peice of crap that shoe was.
my ultimate dream would be to have a store with no shoes on the wall. customers would walk in and we would look at their feet look at them walk etc.. then we would goin the back and get what they need. the process would have nothing to do with them looking at shoes on a wall. i wouldnt have to carry shoes that i think suck just b/c some customers might want to try it on b/c of a brand name.

By the way the Saucony Trigon Ride absoloutely crippled me, the achilles tab was absoloutely ridiculous, it was so padded it was like it was made of wood, i wore them 2/3 times and was injured for weeks, Sauconys ahve the worst heel tabs in the world. Why can't tehy produce a shoe witha simple round back? Whats with the 2 pronged heel tab its a stupid dated injuring idea...

If they are doing that now, its only to clear all of the Brooks they accumulated whilst they were distributors!!
And the 8 year old Mizuno, Puma, Etonic and Reeboks they have lying around!

i love the omni, personally. i think it actually functions the way it is supposed to (that is, it offers some stability to people who over-pronate), and people seem to like the fit and feel. it's a little wider than some other options (like most saucony models), but it's not baggy and ill-fitting like the ride and the guide.
as far as the hurricane goes, again, just not nearly as supportive as it should be. we have it classified in our basic cushion category (we go performance cushion, basic cushion, versatility, support-basic cushion, stability -- where the omni is situated -- and motion control for our classifications) because it just doesn't stack up with the models from other companies that it is supposed to compare to.
so in short, the omni is a very good shoe, and i've found it to be the most useful of the current saucony line.
The new Hurricane has a lot of "Reebok" in it... wait till you see the release (top designer is a Reebok transplant).
Both are close to the best "new" shoes on the market right now.

Quality control issues should be sent to Ryan Hall. Your welcome Ryan. If you have problems with the shoe- its because of the small Cambodian fingers used to construct said shoes. You're misfitting people if you have a problem with the Ride or Guide. Any problems with the heal collar on ANY shoe are do to the salesman misfitting the shoe- do I have to explain this?

The heel collar is not a problem becasue of the fit, its a problem becasue it is rock hard and curves inwards towrads the achilles, its the worst piece of heel tab design I've ever seen.

In my opinion the Jog Shop is the best running shop in the UK, its not trying to be some poncey over the top shop, its down to earth, its personal and people like me actually like the fact you can go in there and pick up a favourite from 3/4 years ago. If I had a running shop I'd want it to be like the jog shop. Whoever the bitter poster is on here (no doubt somebody with an interest in another store) they couldn't be more wrong, ok they have a very small selection on the shelves but its when you tell the staff what you are looking for that the shop comes into its own. I would tell everyone I know to use their shop, they have it just right. There is a little bit of history there too, i don't want a shop with colour coordianted displays and fancy logos I wanta shop which is staffed by knowledgable people where teh important thing is the products.
