I think she can run 2:11:00 to 2:13:00, with my prediction around 2:12:00 to 2:12:30. Plenty of male runners of 1350 / 2850 caliber run those times. She is even stronger than a lot of those guys.
I’d say 2:14-2:16. She has the potential to go 2:12-2:13, but it might take a few attempts to get there. But would not be surprised if she went out and took the WR.
I don't know how many times I've watched some of Kipchoge's great marathons. It's like a great artist creating a masterpiece. This will also be true of Gidey. Watching her run completely unchallenged for a little over two hours will be truly mesmerizing.
Expecting a lot of downvotes for this, but I'm saying she goes out at 2:14 pace and can't hold it, finishing in 2:17-2:18.
Gidey's an absolute star, and I was hoping to see her run the marathon this year but I think she'll find out it's a different beast from 10k/HM. If she goes conservative and looks to split 68 for the first half I think she can do 2:15/16, but I'm convinced she's going to look for a 67 first half which will be too fast even for her in her first marathon

I gave you a vote up, it's a completely reasonable take. It's worth noting that Gidey likes to negative split, so maybe she (wisely) asks the pacers to take her through in 67:45 or 68:15 and then from there she doesn't run into some of the marathon pitfalls. If she goes out at WR pace, yes I'd be wary.
It's obviously not as easy as just to convert a HM time to a marathon. It's a totally different thing to run a marathon, and lots of things can happen, even to talented runners as Gidey. That being say'd. I believe she will smash it and run a new WR. 2.12.

I certainly think a range between 2:14 and 2:16 is most likely (I know that's a large window) if she races conservatively and has pacers up to at least 35km. If she runs 2:12, as some think she can, then the game is over for women's marathoning, she'll never lose a race if that is her ceiling. I'm not convinced its possible for a woman to run 2:12 but I'd like to be wrong

Yea, agree. The marathon is a different beast than the half. On the other hand, super shoes and nutrition advancements have basically prevented these elite marathoners from hitting the wall. That said, still think she has a bit of trouble getting it right in her debut. And by trouble, I mean she runs the fastest debut ever but doesn't get the world record.
