I would say the NR attempt went well.

Wow. Truly remarkable. Lots of accomplished 2:08-2:15 marathoners have taken a shot at this, especially from Japan and the USA.
Gerry Lindgren-type training, 185 mile weeks
Sorokin is bigger than I expected. I really expected to see the emaciated type build of the typical top ultra runner or marathoner.
Incredible. He's crushed everything up to 24h now.
Bigger than 400&800 guys wrote:

Yiannis Kouros was looking exactly the same and there are some other former top ultrarunners who had that body type.
I was not expecting his range to extend this low! Maybe he should just try a marathon for kicks
yea, this is very impressive. clearly he has proven himself at the ultra endurance stuff already, but didnt think he had the 100k record in his range. sorokin def seems to be a specialist at track/flat ultras whereas almost every other ultra runner will take cracks at flat 12-24 hour records and podiums at UTMB or WS100 in the same year. with his frame there is almost no way he would be competitive in those events and cant really blame the other guys as running in the mountains seems much more enjoyable than spending 24 hours on a track.
he also does every single run in vaporfly/alphafly iirc. he said that was the biggest breakthrough in his training when he first started using them. clearly he is a responder. if super shoes make a difference over shorter distances then it would make sense that this effect could be observed over distance in a somewhat linear fashion. guys like walmsley or killian with basically trail shoe deals (hoka and salomon have pretty bad supershoes) you have to wonder if that holds them back.
