The comment he made about the 800 being the main event this year is really interesting to me, and I think it has some merit. He and Sumner could potentially be the two best 800 runners in us history, I can only hope and pray they race one another. Throw in Rhein, the Sahlmen, and Plant and it should be a historic race.
it only makes sense in 800 or less in my opinion....maybe up to the mile/1500/1600
anything longer, it just seems kind of dumb....like....we're gonna race and it's gong to be decided and it will be what it is....cut and dried......trash talking and endurance sports....it's just not natural....like a waste of energy....that's just my perspective
Everyone is nice to each other because most people in the sport are nice people. Hopefully he learns that. I've built lifelong friendships with my competitors and there is nothing fake about it.
you can still make friends with your competitors even when you win. thinking everyone is a "fake" friend just because they are a rival says something about you not them. I mean whatever works for you. some athletes need to create conflict that doesnt exist to excel and I get that. some kids run best when they are running angry. but hopefully he will outgrow thinking he needs to be a d*ck to be great.
Why does everyone on Letsrun think this guy's a supersenior???? He himself has stated he's still 18.
I think it's because his World Athletics profile lists him as 19, but people should realize that it only does that autimatically because he will turn 19 during this calander year. His birthday could be at 11:59pm, December 31st of 2022 for all we know and he would still be listed as 19 on World Athletics.

Also, will Sumner is listed as 20 on that site. So (provided the info on World Athletics is correct, which is totally not certain considering we're talking abiht highschoolers here) Flatt is actually the one at the dissadvantage in this hypothetical.
T&F isn't going to suddenly become some huge break out sport that gets better ratings than UFC and NFL just because runners start acting like a-holes.
Flatt's a great runner and an exciting talent. He was probably red shirted for kindergarten, which is pretty much standard practice for parents who want their kids to be athletes. But he is probably competing against a lot of runners who did the same thing. He clearly watches too much MMA and is trying to be the Connor McGregor of running. It comes off a bit like Pre and a bit like an MMA douchebag.
Seems like Ole Miss really is the right place for him…bunch of social media fools who just talk trash then disappear after a few bad races lmao aka Wesfly 😶🌫️
The fact is that Cade Flatt is not only a super talent, a 1:47.04 guy already, but he has stated very clearly on a youtube video he made a while back--some sort of speech for class, it seems--that he wants to market track and field so that it is popular as the major sports by big talk, and that is exactly what he is doing. It's off to a good start and should continue as long as he can back it up on the track. The media eats this stuff up. Just look at all their profiles on a certain mulleted, rv living former Ole Miss 800/1500m guy.
Precious Roy's Connor McGregor comment was spot on, because in the video I mentioned he literally states that watching McGregor bring attention to the sport of MMA when it had little attention inspired him and he wants to do the same for track.
Some of the best runners in history are also among the nicest people. It doesn't hold you back. I like his attitude on the track, but it's not the reason he is good. When he takes it off the track it just looks stupid.

The kid is 18. You think World Athletics is actually accurate? His own dad has come here multiple times verifying that he is 18.

No, I don't think it's always accurate... that's why I said exactly that in my post
