I'm hoping to qualify for the 2023 Boston Marathon, by running a race early this fall of 2022. Does anybody know the qualifying window for 2023? For example, if I run Chicago on October 9th 2022, it too late to use that for 2023 Boston?

You think this info would be easier to find, but so many google searches for this came up empty.
The qualifying window for the 127th Boston Marathon, scheduled to take place on April 17, 2023, began on September 1, 2021. Registration details for that race will be announced following the 2022 Boston Marathon.
Thanks. I guess I'll wait until Boston puts out details. Hopefully it will be soon based on that description of "Following the 2022 Boston Marathon"
Probably. Registration is usually in September. Maybe that will change with all the marathon rescheduling, but I wouldn't bet on it.
Registration was in November last year and any race that was run and officially recorded before the registration week closed was acceptable.

Registration has historically started on the second Monday in September and run through the following Saturday night. If the race isn't filled up with BQ-5 qualifiers, which is BQ Brunlikely this year, it will then continue for a few more days.
So any races run through Saturday, September 17th should qualify, and races run on Sunday the 18th likely will as well.
There also a small chance the field doesn't immediately fill up with BQ-0 qualifiers, in which case the window could be extended anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.
How early in the fall? Chicago has traditionally been too late. It's usually early September but got thrown off by COVID. There's a last chance BQ marathon in the Chicagoland area, plus Lehigh Valley.
Thanks. I'll have to head to Chicagoland.
Still no word from Boston yet. I'm checking the website weekly. The early September marathons are only 16ish weeks away! I need to know which marathon i'm aiming for sooner rather than later! I've started a training block, and am anxious to pick a race. C'mon BAA, announce already.
I'm with you, man. It's getting close and need to plan my training. ideally would sign up for a qualifier in the last weekend possible to avoid the heat.
Haven't announced on BAA website yet. Maybe this bodes well for repeating last yr and taking entries up to early Nov., but who knows?
I I recall correctly, since 2014, registration has only been open for more than two weeks one. If registration opens (like pre-pandemic years) before Sept 15, then I would expect registration to close before any October race.
Last year Boston was in the fall....the one variable explaining why registration was not at its normal date, and was in November.
To the OP—assume Chicago is too late, as it always has been.
Covid race(s) was different. Stop using outliers as the norm. Just look at time stamps of press releases. Theyre a little behind becUse they did 2 races in 6 months be patient. It's been the same week every year. 2nd Monday of September. Races have been happening for 2 years now. There's no more excuses or gimmes. There is no reason to change it. No more boston virtual. No more masks. All the WMM have occured. Things are back to normal.
This is my big gripe with potential qualifiers. They put in so little effort to learn when qualifying is then they complain when they miss the cut off. Couldn't find a race. Bad race plan. Bad weather. Missed cut off by seconds. Whatever.
I think it's fair to assume it'll be the second Monday of September, but come on, "we hosted a race nearly two months ago and aren't prepared to announce when registration will open for next year," is BS. Completely reasonable to be asking for confirmation.
