She said in her interview about the Strava privacy issue that she had been dealing with some hip impingement, which she said after the race was why she stopped.
I went back and watched all her pre-race interviews again, looked at her strava, etc., and, I don't know, she sure didn't sound like or look like she was nursing an injury - not like the broken ribs before NYC anyway. So many things can go wrong in a marathon, including an injury you didn't have before, but, in looking at her marathon career, there was never such high expectation and pressure for her to do well here (she had so much experience training on the course etc.) and when she started to significantly drop off pace, that was a new place for her to be in her marathon career. I don't know what went wrong, but, I don't know why so many people are so quick to deny that it could have been partially a mental break - that today was not her day (it happens and is not unusual), and then when it wasn't going her way, she just kind of broke. Anyway, I'm sure she will be back stronger than ever for world champs, but I'm not really buying the hip impingement story, which cost her two days of training before going back to 130+mpw.

You watched that interview you came away from it thinking she had a serious hip impingement issue and wasn't ready to race Boston because of it? Watch it again. Was pretty clear it was no big deal and the privacy issue was the bigger concern, and she was right back to her "big girl miles" of over 130 mpw. She was also pretty clear that training went really well and she had been working on strength, but that speed may be an issue at Boston (but going to hone speed for worlds). And, I think she was right, speed was an issue, and sure, maybe her hip hurt a little, not too much pain to stop her running 136 mpw, but too much to let herself get beat by Des.

I came away thinking if she went out and gave it her all on a tough course she might run into issues with her hip, which is exactly what happened. If it's bothering you on training runs, there's a good chance it can bother you when you raise the intensity.

Your conclusion is pure speculation and you have literally no evidence whatsoever this happened.
They don’t need to cover the wheelers for half the mens marathon. They just don’t. Start them earlier or cut the coverage of them at least in half.
Modern wheelchair racing is about as exciting as watching someone riding a bicycle alone. Maybe 30 seconds and I'm good.
I love watching marathons, but most everybody I know has the same thing to say about watching marathons. My point of this was to say that sucky marathon coverage is sucky marathon coverage. Even if there was not a wheelchair race at Boston, the coverage would still be sucky. There was still a huge herd of male runners when the wheelers were done. And Fauble's move, the lack of following the top American runners, etc. had nothing to do with it. I do agree that starting the wheelers even earlier is a good idea, but Rojo's ranting about the wheelchair coverage is off the mark. The producers just don't know how to cover the race.
you would think that no one, not a single runner on this board, has EVER had a bad race. Not once. They always performed at their highest level EVERY SINGLE TIME.
Once again, I love running, but this site makes me hate runners. Lay off the sh!tty comments about Molly. She had a bad race and smartly dropped out. She was visibly grimacing on the downhills at 16 miles, so its a good thing for her health that she stopped today. It was really, really obvious watching on TV.
Seriously, the level of anger and hate on this site is really, really something. We just had a fascinating Boston Marathon to discuss and the "sh goes home devastated" "Molly just isn't that good" bullsh!t really needs to stop.

A large reason is that you don't have to make an account.
Because she is a 2:25 marathon runner. Good but not great.
Lol you people should have to post your own marathon PRs prior to opining on hers. Let’s hear it!
And if people want to say that Tom Brady is a better QB than Andy Dalton, they better be able to prove that they themselves are better QBs than Dalton at least, and maybe even Brady just to be safe. Your premise is absurd. Being a pro athlete comes with an added experience of being criticized about your ability by people who aren’t as good as you at that ability, but that’s okay because they have other jobs (usually!) No one is making athletes read this website of their sports’ equivalent, or social media or whatever.
But maybe we shouldn’t make her mad, or else she might make up another story about some ignorant male having the gall not to know who she is, or similar.

I personally know next to nothing about football so I don’t comment on it.
Armchair quarterbacking happens to be one of my pet peeves.

I agree that you could clearly see she was not feeling well in the coverage (facial expression was a grimace and her stride had become asymmetrical), especially as she was going past the Jon Greene family hardware store. It was only a matter of time before she dropped at that point because she hadn't even begun the up, down, repeat of the Newton hills. No way she would be making up time on the leaders there. I can imagine that bombing down the early descents in the race would have been murder on a wonky hip. Wishing her some good R&R before the summer.
MLB..tv has multiple game streaming capability. I watch multiple games all of the time. Peacock had their mosaic today, but the connection to their servers was bad. Resolution was good on and off. Mostly off. For a major media company, as is Comcast, they can do much better!
Don't be silly. Ultimately, the Athlete makes the call. If she felt ready, she was. She is after all an Olympic Bronze Medal Winner. What ever the reason is her business. She ran against the World's Best and gained valuable experience. As any Marathoner will tell you, nothing is ever guaranteed in this event. Molly will come back and stronger than ever! Go Strong Molly!💪🏽
Agree Charles ! This website seems to be littered with frustrated 'Runner's' always looking to the negative. Why? Quite embarrassed for these mean-spirited kids.. p.s. How many Olympic Medals you kids have? ..thought so! 🙄
As a fan, do you ever watch two sporting events at once for other sports? I doubt it. There is a reason why PIP used to be big thing on tvs and now is an afterthought. When it waws invented, "Everyone was like this is so cool." Now you never see it advertised as people realize it's a miserable experience to watch two things at once, let alone 6.
Yes, I do and so should you. Track Meets are a very enjoyable 3 ring circus, with multiple events going on at the same time. If TV is done correctly, the audience can have non-stop action. But NBC and american coverage never do it right.
March Madness is another good example, I have a TV and 2 laptops going to show 3 games at any given time. Always wish I had a 4th device when 4 games are being played.
Not like the Marathon has much action. Most of the race it is more about people fading rather than actual action. Last 5k's were the most action in the whole race and both the Men's and Women's race was able to be seen.

Agree. This place is a cesspool. I take a look every few months or so if something is newsworthy (like the Boston Marathon) and I am again reminded why I only take a look every few months or so.
