I heard the 10k is stacked with Hansons this yr at Hillsdale and the results from last yr were impressive. but how about the 1500, steeple, and 5k this yr? will those races be decent?

may be decent...not too deep
I will be looking to run under 14:30 there.
Should be decent mile, steeple and 5,000 fields at the Minnesota Distance Classic on June 7th. Contact Jack Moran at
There are 2 separate meets both held at Hillsdale. The first is april 25-26th. The 10k will be loaded (8-12) sub 29 min. The 5k will probably go around 14:10. and the steeple around 8:55.
The second meet will be June 4th and will not have a 10k. The 5k will go around 13:40 with 8-12 guys running sub 14 min. The steeple will go around 8:40 and the 1500 will go around 3:40.
Who is going to be at the meet on the 25th? 8-10 guys under 29-flat and a bunch of 14:10 5k guys??!! Who is showing up to this- those are some pretty good times brother!
Here are the results from last years meet:

I had heard that they are going to load up the 5k a bit more this year. It is probably easier just to go to the hansons web site and try to contact them for info on who is running.
the meet is run by hillsdale college, not the hanson's. it would be best to contact the hillsdale head coach, bill lundberg, i believe, to find out any of that info. from my experience, the hanson brothers aren't very good at replying to emails.
I'm surprised you don't see any hillsdale college runners turning out top-quality times. Their coach ( former 8:30's 3k SC and 4 min. miler Bill Lundberg) must know what he's doing?
?, ever heard of Paul Aufdemberge? Gordon Sanders? Both graduated from Hillsdale in the 80's.
Kitty,
You are right. Hansons are big supporters of Hillsdale College but we do not run this meet the college does (and does a great job). The Mid west distance solution on June 4th we take care of entries but Hillsdale College still does the leg work as well. Bill Lundberg is the man to get a hold of for info on April Meet. Kevin Hanson is the one to talk to about the June Meet.
You would think, but the results say otherwise. Sanders and Aufdemberge were well developed pre-Lundberg.

Not Aufdemberge, he's a Lundberg guy. I sensed the original query was about Lundberg coached athletes but thought I'd throw Sanders name out there anyway.
Lets put a little qualifier on it. How about since the Reagan administration.
Mich Man Scott, Bill's a great guy, but I know much more about this than you, OK? Aufdemberge was wrapping up when Lundberg arrived.
Other than the nice PR job that Roche did for Hillsdale a few years back, Hillsdale is a nice liberal arts school in a nice environment and has a nice reputation in the area. The distance squad is nice too, and all the more power to them if they run well, but you don't go to Hillsdale with the intention of squeezing the most out of your running... not even close.

.
I think you are wrong. Scott Hubbard knows more about everything than anyone else. He has told me on several occasions.

Aufdemberge: "I did my best running under Lundberg." Got that just minutes ago from my buddy. Joe Rogers recruited Paul and Bill came along in his soph year in track. I enjoy communicating w/people that 'know much more about this' than me.
Anyway, w/good weather, that 10,000m should be terrific!
OK, Scott, whatever. I am sure that your buddy/colleague Paul is going to say a word that is remotely negative towards Bill. Paul's a good guy like that, plus it just wouldn't be good policy for him to say otherwise (and I would . Paul was well into his good running when Bill came around... but even if not, every blind squirrel finds a nut from time to time. When did Aufdemberge graduate? 1986-7? When I was saying that I know much more about this than you, I meant that which pertains to the original question.
Even if you are right on the Aufdemberge part, that was not the question asked was it (you even stuck Sanders in there)? I do know much more about this than you, I solemnly promise. Bill is indeed a terrific guy, but if someone wanted to see what they could do in running, I would not point them towards Hillsdale. Just my opinion, I guess.
Now those 10Ks do look good - too bad they often run the same weekend as the trail marathon.
???, the reason I mentioned Gordon S is because the original statement didn't specifically link Bill w/the past at Hillsdale. I was just throwing Sanders' name in there as an accomplished guy from Hillsdale.
Paul mentioned that he did earn All-America indoors as a soph, just before Bill arrived. Paul's as honest as the day is long and I have no reason to doubt him on his word. He doesn't say things to please me. Mostly, he lets his actions speak for him as he's such a quiet guy but when he does talk, I've always felt he was sincere.
Per Hillsdale as a place to run...I've no feel for that one.
The Trail Marathon...I love running out there and wish my mtn biking skills were up to snuff to tackle that dang thing!
