Ran a 1:16:36 half on a flat course seven weeks ago. Since then I've averaged 125km (78 miles) per week with three workouts most weeks:
- Wednesday: 22kms (14 miles) with either 20kms (12 miles) of alternating kilometers at 3:40/km (5:53/mile) and 4:15/km (6:50/mile), or 15km (9 miles) at 3:47/km (6:05/mile).
- Thursday: 15-20kms (9-12 miles) with 10-15km (6-9 miles) at 4:05/km (6:34/mile).
- Sunday: 30-35kms (19-22 miles) with first 15-20km (9-12 miles) at 4:40/km (7:30/mile) and last 10-20km (6-12 miles) at 3:47/km (6:05/mile).
The workouts are done on flat road. The rest of my mileage is comprised of 10-15km (3-9mile) easy runs on undulating trails with around 200-300m (650-985ft) elevation. Total elevation per week usually around 1300m (4265ft). Everything is done at sea level.
Today ran 33km (21 miles) at 4:13/km (6:45/mile) average, and last 15km (9 miles) at 3:46/km (6:04/mile). Lots of wind and rain. Was moderately challenging, but didn't feel like I was digging very deep.
Going to run Boston in 2 weeks. Want to break 2:45 which is 3:55/km (6:19/mile) pace to qualify for Berlin and maybe Tokyo next year.
Seem viable? Any recommendations for pacing strategy?
