I understand steiner is a big name but 60m collegiate record holder Julien Alfred won the 100m in 11.07 in a dual meet against texas a&m in her first outdoor race since 2019. The 100 will be extremely fast this season.
Alfred ran really well and I agree that the 100 should be very good this year. I am also looking forward to seeing Steiner & Alfred race against each other this season and against others. I think that I read somewhere that Steiner's 100 this past weekend was her first in 3 years. I was also looking forward to a Steiner facing Ohio State's Anvia Battle in the 200 but there was some really bad weather in the Midwest this past weekend and not all of Ohio State's team made it to Florida. Steiner ended up switching to the 100 anyway.
While Alfred's & Steiner's 100s were legal, there was some slight wind adjustment.
Alfred 11.07 (+0.3 m/s) = 11.09
Steiner 11.10 (+1.5 m/s) = 11.15
There were also some performances at the Texas Relays that were not legal but were impressive, nonetheless.
Celera Barnes 10.82 (+2.8 m/s) = 10.95
Jada Baylark 10.83 (+2.8 m/s) = 10.96
Samirah Moody (+2.8 m/s) = 11.21
Favour Ofili also ran a 11.11 (+0.7 m/s) this past weekend at an LSU meet for an 11.15 performance.
Here is the list of performances up to this point:
This is an Alfred thread so excuse this comment but the race I am most looking forward to seeing this season is Gabby Thomas vs Abby Steiner over the 200. We'll need to wait until the summer to see that one.

Yeah this is alfred first time outdoors since 2019 so 3 years as well should be interesting to see the battling this season till they meet in eugene. And im looking forward to gabby vs abby too. Gabby is in great form early as well
Quartermiler- Have you heard anything else about the Jamaican recruits heading to Texas? It's the month of April so I am hoping hear/see something soon.

I haven’t heard anything as of late. But i suspect we wont know anything until later in the season. In prior years texas signed alot of international talent during the summer after the championship season. But i do know they are looking into sprint transfer victoria perrow of UGA who just took a visit. She was impressive given the climate of UGA and new coaching running 7.27 in the 60 indoors before entering the transfer portal. But flo said this year might be the year of transfers so we won't truly know till after NCAA’s.
I am still shocked at Julien Alfred split 51 on 3rd leg of the 4x400 at Texas Relays.
It's expected past collegiate power house teams had short sprint stars who could throw down a monster 400split. Morolake akinosun of texas was a staple on the relays consistently splitting 51. In 2012 english gardner threw a 50 second leg in the 4x400 to lead off for oregon ncaa title winning relay. A complete sprinter should be able to go up and down. It shows she has talent and better yet heart!
I remember Morolake Akinosun, Jeneba Tarmoh and Oregon sprinters but I did not see it in Julien Alfred. However, I am happy that Alfred is healthy and running well because she help Texas run the 2nd fastest collegiate 4x400 ever. It was definitely exciting to see.

And tbh it caught me by surprise too. But if the other three ladies split 50 or less i see the record falling for sure

11.07... and you think the 100M will be extremely fast? I guess you and I have a completely different understanding of what it means when something is described as extreme anything. Here's a hint for you 10.4 for a woman can be considered extremely fast. 11.07 nahhhhhhh... no way in hell.
I hope USA women start running in the 10.7s at least, so that there can be a challenge to the three Jamaicans.

They’re college students. The Jamaicans you’re referring to have significantly more experience.
I was at the Texas vs A&M dual meet. Trust me when I say Alfred didn't have no one to push her in the 100m and she slowed down at the line. I forsee a sub 11 in the very near future. But regardless...she's still in college and in fact has another year in college. Even in the 200m she jogged the last 5/10 meters of that race.
Yea I get to see Texas compete one more time at the Michael Johnson Invitation in Waco, Texas. I am still debating if I am going to travel to Penn Relays. I also see myself finally going to the NCAA meet in Oregon in the very near future.
I hope USA beat Jamaica as well but it's going to be tough beating the Jamaican women in the sprints.
I probably don't need to tell you this but Julien Alfred is a citizen of Saint Lucia. Just clarifying since your comment is in her thread.
I agree about the Jamaican women. They are so strong. ETH and SAFP are on another level in the 100 and Shericka Jackson is not far behind them. It's hard to believe that SAFP still runs at the level that she does at 35 years of age. ETH is also at another level in the 200. I don't consider Mboma to be there with her because I do not consider her marks to be legitimate. Hopefully a ruling will come on her soon.
At this point I do not see Gabby Thomas, Abby Steiner, Jenna Prandini, Anavia Battle, Tamara Clark, Sha’Carri Richardson (whatever she is up to these days), Teahna Daniels, or any other American sprinter being able to consistently hang with the Jamaicans.
Yes Julien Alfred is a citizen of Saint Lucia but went to high school in Jamaica. I wouldn't sleep on the USA t&f that you've listed. I would also add Tee Tee Terry and Cambrea Sturgis to that list. It's the reason why I stated that it will be tough for USA to beat Jamaica but not impossible. I just wouldn't never sleep on USA sprinters!

Oh calm down. 10.6x basic has to be considered basically the female speed limit, and if you know anything then you know this and are just throwing "10.4" out there to be an internet troll sheeple.
Females ain't running 10.4s unless they are running at Lusanne or Eugene or Rieti or some other absurd places with altitudes and hearty, consistent winds. Even then, they are only "threatening" 10.4, but more than likely still falling short. Everywhere else, they end up 10.6x (which is great, by the way...but let's just be real about it). If anything, the 10.54 only furthered this truth.
