15:25.93 is what I saw but yes a new hs record
Cannot tell if it is the U20 because I every time I look it up it changes. LOL.
She beat the reigning Pac 12 XC champion and 8th place finisher in the NCAA championship.
Wow.
I didn't even realize this was going on. Results? Any more info? That's stupid fast.
So I double checked. The U20 should be 15:20.57. Run December, 2014 by Sarah Disanza at our favorite track in Boston. Disanza turned 20 in 2015, so that should be the record according to the rules. But I do not think it was ever registered. A bit of trivia then.
For those girls out there that have gotten dragged out to Junior Olympics as a middle schooler, taken around the country to various meets as high schooler, while also continually training for with same coach for several years - - you too can follow Natalie's lead and in less than 12 months go from a 4th place state meet finisher to an unstoppable national record holder by........ reducing your mileage (but still travelling the country though).
Obviously a great time, but she is really small. We all know the end result in the majority of runners.
Thanks! That's unbelievable. Touhy was the greatest XC runner ever and now two girls have run faster than her record in two years.

She is faster than Tuohy right now while still in high school.
H'm. Tuohy just finished runner up in a tactical race where she matched two runners who have both run sub 15:20.
Anyway congrats to Cook. High school record. At least for a few years.
Cook is a beast for sure. Crazy how Jenna Hutchins just broke a record we thought wouldn't fall for a couple years and then Natalie comes and shatters it by 9 seconds only a year later. I wonder what's responsible for the recent surge of these talents, especially with Brynn Brown, Mia Barnett, Sydney Thorvaldson, Ellie Shea, Dalia Frias, Sadie Engelhardt, and others all running amazing times in varying conditions ever since Tuohy graduated. It's almost like a new era of high school distance running has been ushered in on the girl's side!
IT'S THE SHOES!!!

Wow.
faster than ANY collegiate runner. and the only athletes that beat her were two professionals in their late 20s who both had to run substantial PRs to hold her off. running her against high school kids isnt even fair at this point.
Not sure. Lots of talented runners. But each have a different approach. Probably technology such as shoe technology also contributes. Cook is not over raced, and that helps.
That’s pretty insane on her part especially considering she isn’t even in College rn.

Even more insane is the fact that Natalie Cook only runs 15-20 miles per week. (The rest of the time she just cross trains.)
right on, smart training
