I am training for a marathon, training going very good, and have an 18 miler with 14 at MP planned for this weekend long run. But, just started dating a girl who I really like a lot, and she wants me to come run with her this weekend - it's a 12 mile run with 3500ft of elevation gain and loss. The trail run will take a lot longer than my 18 miler and I think in general be a much harder run on my legs than the 18 miler so I don't want to do both.
Would you skip the planned run to do a good workout anyway (just not specificity) and spend a great day with a girl you are super into - or tell her you can't and do your own run? She knows I might not be able to and is chill about it, but, I really want to spend the day with her etc. and my decision comes down to is how much does this one run mean to my race? If it would make a difference I would put the race first at this point, but I don't think this one run will make any difference come race day, especially since I'd be getting in a long workout anyway - but, what do you guys think?
