I bought an ASICS Metaracer pair last Fall coz I was looking for something less maximalist for track with more ground feel and stability as well as some carbon-shmarbon for the hype. They are becoming my go-to shoes on days I do track workouts but also run just fine on road.
I’ve gotten several unprompted “nice sneaks” compliments shouted at me by random strangers (usually older women), and that’s always feels nice and adds a bounce to my stride. I like to think they mean it and that I look real cool running in them 😎as opposed to them trying to encourage a hobbyplodder.😥
I also run some days in my Nike Tempo Next%, the super shoes’ training companion, but for sprint workouts on track, it always feels too tall for me, which at 6’1” makes me feel less stable than I suspect a shorter runner might. Another pair of shoes that comes close to the Metaracer in stack height and stability (but is slightly squishier) and is also carbon-ated is the Adidas Adizero Pro (not the Adios Pro that is maximalist) that works great for both sprint workouts on track and long runs on road, but they seem to be being retired by Adidas.
