I remember trying on different shoes and the vaporfly's were so much lighter and had such better response. Everything else seemed like a cheap knockoff back in 2018-2019.

Probably, but other companies don't have the studies like Nike.
I've read Saucony Endorphin Pros are similar. Plus they last longer for less money. But I have yet to see good data supporting them.
Adidas and Asics have basically closed the gap according to some independent studies, but the Vaporflys are way easier to get (and slightly cheaper) now

Adidas won both races, too. Ain't all Nike any more, on the roads anyway.
Can’t speak to ASICS or Adidas, but Saucony’s Endorphin Pro is not close to the Nike Next%. They are great trainers, but would never chose them over Next%.
