Of course he can. After the 9:10, that guarantees a 4:30 mile. So...
4:30 + 4 + 4 + 4 = 16:30.
They are right around record pace.
Doshi has already run 4:24 outdoors.
Also, who the heck can run a 9:10 but only 4:30. I would say that for somebody with a 9:10 PR, the worst case scenario is about 4:20 to 4:22 for somebody with a huge lack of speed.
Hector Martinez, who is a junior, ran 4:19 in the 5th section at NB. Maybe 4:15 by the end of the season?
Martinez (and Cantu) have not progressed as well as Doshi.
Doshi is now faster than Martinez at 2 miles.
Things can change of course and Martinez could start improving quickly again. His sub 4:20 today could indicate that. One (or both) of Martinez and Doshi would need to be running low 4:1X by next year.
- Dev Doshi is pretty much there already as a soph with his 9:10 indoor 2 mile.
The question is: Can Doshi continue his fast progression? If so, he can be the 4th man on NP’s 4Xmile next year.
Doshi already ran a 9:02. That beats Nico’s sophomore PR. Also his 7th grade 1600 time was faster than Nico’s 8th grade 1600 time.
I think what helped Doshi beat Nico’s soph 3200 time is that he had faster guys on the team to train with, unlike Nico.
Doshi is definitely a dark horse to get top 10 in the nation senior year for XC.
Hector ran a 4:19 mile in the indoors.
Doshi ran a 4:19 1600 in the outdoors.
If Hector is healthy, it’s still gonna be a battle between him and Doshi for the 4th leg in the 4xmile next yr
Some of you have some weird takes on HS distance running talent. Nico didn’t have fast people to train with during his time in HS and he was one of the GOATs. Comparing middle school times is kind of dumb.
There have been other 9:00 Sophomores that didn’t end up running anywhere near the level of the brothers. Currently, Doshi would need to run a PR just to keep up with the brothers in the first mile of a 2-mile,
Why all the thumbs down on this post? I’m sure Dev Doshi is and will be a great runner especially with the expert coaching he gets, but it simply isn’t fair or accurate to try and base anyone else’s progression on what those two sets of brothers have done so far. Compare him to everyone else, not them.

From some aerobic monster's I've seen, I believe 9:10 is possible off of 4:25 speed.
