Donovan Brazier's 400m ability = overrated: yes or no?

Are his 400m abilities widely highly rated? I thought he was just focusing on the 400m during indoor to develop his speed, not because he or anyone thinks he's great at the event.

Brazier's recent 400i and his 1500 PR (3:35) have the same score on world athletics. Brazier's 400 was anything but a perfect race tactically and he can shed significant time. So yes, he is world class in the 400.

The guys at Flo seem to think he could have medaled in the individual 400 at World indoors if he chose to run it. Brazier has also flirted with the idea of trying to make an outdoor relay (you know, the best 4x4 team in the world), so I assume there are people out there who believe he's a world class 400 guy. I personally think he would get absolutely spanked in the 400 even by other 800 guys like Lopez, Korir and Amos, but I wanted to see what others thought.

I asked if his 400m abilities are WIDELY highly rated. You respond that you "assume there are people who there who believe he's a world class 400 guy." Even if you're right about this, it doesn't mean that he's widely highly rated as a 400m guy.

The indoor 400m lacks all of the best 400m runners so who really knows. As far as 800m runners go, he is slightly above average in that he can probably run 45.5 or a touch faster outdoors…That would get him destroyed by Korir and beaten soundly by Amos who are speed 800 runners. Braziers real impressive factor is he is such a balanced 800 runner as he can also run a very good 1500. Not many guys can say that, maybe Coe if you count his very fast 400m relay legs. Obviously he’s next level.

If the suggestion is that there is a claim on him being the quickest 400 guy of 800 runners than that’s definitely not accurate. Emmanuel Korir for example has run 44.21 open and 43.34 on a relay. So Brazier is really solid but definitely not the swiftest of 800 specialists.

If we’re being honest his 800m ability might be overrated too. Everyone seems to assume he would’ve won the 800m last year if healthy, but I’m not so sure. Clearly in a fast-paced 800 or one with Wesley Vazquez in it he is really good. Last year, there was no front runner in the final and Emmanuel Korir got his tactics right and had a last 200 and 400 that historically stands up with other slow first lap 800s. He also ran 143-flat so we know he was in shape. Can Brazier position himself well enough and kick strong enough in that sort of race to win? Who knows, but it makes not a sure thing. 2019 was pretty gift-wrapped for him.

Donovan Brassiere is as overrated as Athing Mu. Posibly more. His 800m pb is only 1:42.3, which is rated at just 1256 points. Yet hes treated like hes a low 1:41 guy who poses a threat to the WR. Across all disciplines, at a world level, this doesnt rank high enough to be considered all that impressive.

You are a good troll but you lose me at Mu, who is a teenager who can run 1:55.0, which if you take out DSD women and doped-to-the-gills Eastern European women is a very elite time.
