Trying to best their mother who owns a piece of a Master's WR in 4X8, or sister who made it to Olympic Qualifiers in steeple, the twins from Bronxville, now in college, quietly ran some nice indoor mile times this season: Alex at USNA running 4:00.35 in Boston and Matt at Georgetown running a 3:58.64 at Big East. Not a complete anomaly but rarefied air for twins running at or below a 4 minute mile
I don't think it's that special. Each year, a hundred men break 4 in the mile. If one twin can do it, the likelihood of the other doing it as well is statistically quite high.

Here's something that I have noticed with distance runners who are twins. One twin seems to always perform slightly better than the other. I the Rizzo's case, Matt's performances are consistently slightly better than Alex. This can also be seen with Gavin and Callum Sherry, Joe and Jim Rosa, Will and Colin Daly, and Leo and Lex Young. Why do you think this is. I would think that twins of similar ability levels would alternate in outperforming each other on a regular basis. Do you think the cause of it is mental or physical?
