There's octordle. Get eight words in 13 tries or less. Unlike the other games it's not limited to a game of the day. Just keep hitting new and you get a new game.
FYI, there's a website called wordlegame that lets you play unlimited times. I can usually play 3 games in 5 minutes. It typically takes me 4 or 5 guesses. Wordle of the NY Times seems to be harder. It takes longer and I typically need 4 or 5 guesses.
I always start with NOISE and follow with CHART unless I get at least three letters with NOISE. Those words include nine out of the ten most popular letters in English. I've found that trying to guess the answer after the first word doesn't improve my score.
As I've said a few times on the covid threads, I enjoy math puzzles. I play Nerdle. It's one a day, but there is a way to play previous games by entering the previous date in the URL. It's explained online. I'm averaging about 3.5 on Nerdle. If I guess the = sign position on the first guess, I usually get it in three. Since it's pure math, more logic is involved, but I do need pen and paper. I tried it yesterday trying to do the math in my head and it took me 5 guesses. I typically start with 6+9-3=12.
I would have tried a word with 3 of those consonants (k, t, p, w, h) knowing it would be wrong. This is how I play my 3rd or 4th word just to narrow down consonants.
That would have been a good strategy. I was impatient.
Yeah, with s_ill, my next word would have been white... better than 50/50 odds of getting the letter for the next pick and guaranteed in a maximum of three picks.
I play Wordle all the time. It's super addictive so I can't stop. I'm serious. Sometimes I can't find the right word for a long time but I found this website https://word-finder.com/ and cheat sometimes. I thought it may be useful for players. Here is my latest score: Wordle 297 4/6.
Yes its an imitation of Mastermind (which I liked too) but its def unique in its own way. You cant just throw letters together, each time its got me make an actual word. Thats very different from color combinations.
If I'm playing the daily Quordle, I'll start with ADIEU, FORTS and LYMPH and try to get a 4,5,6,7 score.
If I'm goofing around with a practice game I start with CUING FORTS JAWED LYMPH, that covers all but six letters, QZXBKV.
Fun stuff either way.
Tried SEMANTLE(?), could not get it. You have to guess a word of the day, You guess a word and the program assigns a value of how close it is to the correct word and you try and work your way to the correct word. I s*cked hard at that.
Now, if a word has just 1 vowel and consonant I often suspect that its first letter is a consonant followed by the vowel then two of the same letters followed by a Y. (Jelly, kitty, fuzzy)
“After nearly a year of speculation, it will finally be our fault if Wordle is harder,” the newspaper joked, referring to the debunked theory that the Times had made the game more difficult after its acquisition.
as long as you have a decent english vocabulary you shouldn't have too much difficulty playing, you will however still encounter some difficulty due to the sheer amount of words in the english lexicon. Wordle
