I am a female middle distance runner, post-collegiate, relatively new to the sport. I run 30-35 mpw with 2 workouts per week. In addition to my workouts, I do a long run of 7-8 miles, and the rest of my runs are around 5 miles. I also do drills, strides and core work regularly.
My question is: should I time my recovery days? I've been timing them and usually run around 8 minute pace, sometimes 8:15-8:30 after a hard workout. Is this too fast? Will it help me at all if I run slower than 8:30 pace?
Thank you for your help -- my goal is to run some good track races this winter and I want to be able to recover but simultaneously get benefits from my runs.
