Because the new "super shoes" are easier on the legs, does this mean I might not need to run as much mileage for marathon training?
I have some vaporfly and alphafly shoes and it appears I respond very well to them - tempo runs are faster with less effort (subjectively and objectively via HR). I was previously a high mileage runner, consistent 80-100 mpw for a few years and tolerated it very well, but now due to other factors I do not have the time for that any more. If the purpose of so much mileage was to accustom the body to the repeated pounding of the marathon, is that mitigated by the effect of carbon plated shoes?
