I am a junior in high school and have a xc pr of 16:30. This coming track season will definitely be a breakout season. But what I’m really worried about is cross country afterwards. My xc team consists of band kids that can’t run under 18 minutes and my coach, who does not know what she’s doing, has not had any success with the team and me the past years. I chocked at 2 championship meets because of her training. Her training consist of dumb runs, hills, and easy runs with no threshold, intervals or race pace training at all. This cross country season my state meet is at my hometown and I really want to win the state meet. And another conference meet before that. Can I run for the team for just 2 meets but not train with them? Any thoughts? What should i do. And how do I explain this to my coach?
