I decided to finally get a GPS watch this week after running for almost two decades and purchased the Garmin Forerunner 55. I am hobby jogger who used to run competitively and now just run for kicks. Typically, I run at around 8:00 min/mile pace on an easy day and anywhere down towards 7:00 min/mile if I decide to push myself which I know due to running laps in pre-mapped routes in city and county parks. I've been using the watch in non-GPS mode for the last two runs and harder effort segments of my runs have registered the same 8:15 min/mile to 8:30 min/mile pacing as what have been the easy portions.
I can't turn up any good Google searches so here I am on LRC. Is my problem solely that I have been using the watch not in GPS mode or is there something else that I am overlooking? Any help or insight is appreciated.
