I’m injured but have been doing 75-90 minutes of very hard, interval-based stationary biking every day to keep fit. This is not easy spinning; I work like an animal for the entire ride and am drenched in sweat by the end.
I’ve been tracking my heart rate my with my Garmin, and it’s been saying that I’ve been burning as many calories as the equivalent time spent running. For example, I did 75 minutes at 163bpm average (the equivalent of hard tempo run) this morning, which had me burning 1,100ish calories, about the same as I would running that much. Is this accurate?
The main reason I ask is that I want to ensure that I’m fueling enough to make up for my caloric expenditure and avoid prolonging my injury. Thanks!
