Any recommendations for versatile running shoe traction for a variety of surfaces? On any given outing, I run over bare dry concrete and asphalt, icy covered hard surfaces, and slick snow covered surfaces, etc. I'm looking for something that provides solid grip, but that can be used on bare surfaces as well.
On a recent outing the conditions went from warm and wet to suddenly icy. The last four miles of the run was miserable. I could barely stay upright. I fell multiple times. I have a nice gash on my chin. I'm hoping to find something versatile enough to use for urban conditions.
In previous years I've either run during daylight hours or stayed inside on the treadmill. This year, many of my runs must be run in the dark. I've noticed that my training is much better when I stick to running outside, so I'm hoping I can find something that can keep me upright over the ice.
