Who would win at the following distances: 800, 1500, 3000, 5000, 10000
Scenario 1: Fast time trial-like race (let's say diamond league or whatever) with rabbits and ideal conditions
Scenario 2: Championship race like the Olympics

1500m:
Ngeny, Ingebrigtsen, Komen, Katir, Farah
3000m:
Komen, Ngeny, Ingebrigtsen, Katir, Farah
5000m:
Komen, Ingebrigtsen, Ngeny, Katir, Farah
10000m:
Komen, Ingebrigtsen, Katir, Ngeny, Farah
Makes sense, how about the 800?
800 is too hard to speculate on. A lot of these guys just didnt run it. And speculating downwards is less accurate than upwards, if that makes sense.
For instance i'd give Ngeny the benefit of the doubt in the 3000m because his mile is so fast, and same for Komen and Ingebrigtsen in the 10000m. I can assume theyd have the strength to move up, but i'd be less willing to assume they have the speed to move down to the 800m, or gauge how much speed they have.
Fair enough.

We haven’t seen prime Jakob yet. When we do, he will be ranked ahead of all of these men in every distance 1500 to 10K, beating them in a TT or championship race.
800 -
Ngeny 1:42.xx potential, wins easily
Ingebrigtsen
Farah
Katir/Komen
1500 -
Ngeny
Ingebrigtsen
Farah/Komen
Katir
3k & 5k
Komen
Farah
Ingebrigtsen
Katir
Ngeny
10k -
Farah
Komen
Ingebrigtsen
Katir
Ngeny
Jakob Ingebrigtsen vs. peak Mo Farah at 3k is an interesting matchup.
Do the 90's full throttle EPO guys get put on the ABP and modern testing?

Ahead of Mo Fraud's 26:46? I'll give you that one. His 12:48 is virtually almost there.
Ahead of Ngeny's converted 3:27.00? Maybe, but not likely.
I wouldnt bet on him ever going sub 3:27.
Ahead of Komen's 12:39 and 7:20 though? Ok that's not happening. Fat chance.
Agree. Pretty much spot on what I would suggest.

This is about to be filled with people who decide not to recognize that Mo Farah ran 3:28 and has the 2 mile indoor world record
Only thing I'd change is that I'd put Komen in front of Farah in the 10k. Farah has better speed than Komen, but Komen seems to get better than Farah as the distance gets longer. He's a 12:39 5k guy. I'd guess Komen could have run 27:20 for 10k if he ran it in peak shape.

26:20?
Mo Farah's PRs is the reason why I decided to include him in this mix, it started because I wondered what a Peak Mo Farah could do vs the current crop of 1500 guys (not particularly a fan of him or anything, just thought it'd be interesting to do cross generational matchups).

Hate Farrah. I’m just not an idiot.

So over 800m it's not really close - Ngeny wins both scenarios. It can easily be forgotten that he ran sub 2.13 in the 1km where he went through in 1.44.62 which in itself is at least 1-1.5 seconds faster than what anyone else here could run for an 800m. So he was certainly a 1.43.XX runner and nobody else on that list is close to that.
The one guy I have to eliminate from any discussion for now is Katir who has done nothing when it mattered so he's out. He's not the best time trialler and he has no history in championship races.
1500m is the tightest. It's either Ngeny or Jakob. I think Ngeny can win both. He beat El G in a champ race and ran 3.28/3.43.
Let's do the Golden League/TT's first - For the 3000m it's Komen, I mean simply because at his peak he could set a pace nobody else is even matching. He ran 7.20 which is simply a record I might die never have seen being beaten. Second is El G at 7.23 and then even more daylight to the 7.25's. 5000m is no different because really nobody, including Farah is close to him. The 10000m it's probably Farah - it's only between him and Komen but Komen has no history in the event and I don't even really know what he could have run? Not as fast as Farah I suspect.
The championship races? The 3000m is the most interesting here -and possibly unpopular opinion but I have a hard time thinking that Farah isn't favorite for all. The dude won back to back Olympic 5/10's and was simply masterful at controlling races to his liking. Over 10000m there is no question it's him, and over 5000m the only chance would be in Komen did what he did in Athens 97 but does he do this with Farah there? Leave it to the final 200m and NOBODY beats him, even with all at their best. Komen didn't have the change in gears/turnover and Jakob doesn't really either. Noah isn't strong enough to mix above 3000m. So back to this one race - the "championship 3000m" which is a great one to dream about because outside of indoors we were never seeing it, Does Komen drop a 58 on the 4th lap and break the field? Does Jakob drive from 500m out? Does it go so slow that Farah gets to the front with 400 to go and can hold off the challenge long enough to drop the hammer in the last 120? Does it even go so slow that the guy with the best leg speed here (Ngeny) can be fresh enough in the final lap? Roll a dice, I will still side with the best talent ever over that distance, Komen.

Even though this statement isn't wrong I should update that to read "he ran sub 2.12 in the 1km" - insanity. Point still remains he's untouchable over 2 laps for this discussion.
800m:
Ngeny, Farah, Ingebrigtsen, Katir, Komen
