I chuckled with excitement! He may not win the thing but big shout out to this guy still being in the game. He must be 38-39 by now. He was a very respectable and likeable runner for Maine West in IL back in the day.
Jon forgot any mention of Dillon Maggard. He has made national tea,s for USA in XC before, and just last month the dusted the B-list tinmen giving a B effort... yeah thats not exactly a 207 marathon in amsterdam, but the dude knows how to run cross.
Also, where is Conner Mantz? I feel like this guy could clean up in this race
Kelati
Durgin
Monson
In that order.
All the top athletes are trying to peak for the world champs, and there is little prize money here. I think we are going to see some unsponsored athletes take the top 3.
I'm going with a long shot. Molly...I think the rest and change of venue will get her adrenaline flowing.

Abso-f'in-lutely not, lol. The marathon is not preparation for this race.
Kelati will crush them.
My crude prediction for the women’s race:
1. Weini Kelati
2. Alicia Monson +0:10
3. Molly Seidel +0:42
4. Emily Infeld +0:51
5. Emily Durgin +1:02
6. Natosha Rogers +1:03
7. Sarah Pagano +1:18
8. Stephanie Bruce +1:20
9. Carrie Verdon +1:28
10. Jaci Smith +1:33
That is taking Infeld’s coaches quote that they’re approaching it like a workout with a grain of salt.
The top 4 are simply at a different talent level. Rogers might mix it up with them at her best, but her most recent race results haven’t been great for her.
Monson vs. Kelati at 5,000m would be a toss-up for me, but you’ve gotta favor Kelati in this event, and it could be by a big margin.
Predicting the results of the men’s race feels like more of a crapshoot. Here’s what I’m going with:
1. Hillary Bor
2. Shadrack Kipchirchir +0:02
3. Dillon Maggard +0:09
4. Kirubel Erassa +0:15
5. Sam Chelanga +0:30
6. Futsum Zienasellassie +0:35
7. Leonard Korir +0:40
8. Reid Buchanan +0:43
9. Benard Keter +0:43
10. Zach Panning +0:45
You could make an argument that Hillary Bor is the premier athlete in the field, and I’ll take him in a sprint finish here.
Shadrack Kipchirchir was virtually MIA in 2021 (2nd at the US 15k champs in March in 43:55 was his only result), but you have to give a 27:07 10k guy the benefit of the doubt in a field like this.
Dillon Maggard at age 26 has PBs ranging from 3:37 to 27:54, and he may be encouraged by his XC win at Mt. Sac in December where he showcased good form. I’ll take him as a surprise 3rd.
Sam Chelanga at age 36 is certainly not a 27:08 man anymore, but he’s still a gritty and rather consistent competitor, and 10k XC is totally his element. I’d be very surprised if he’s outside the top 10.
Anyone know how much a USATF.tv membership is? Is it worth it during the year or will there only be a couple races
I think it’s lik $13 a month, can cancel at any time. I’ll pay that to watch

Unfortunately, you're correct. What's sad is that if you go back, way back, you'll see top athletes who ran well or won the World Cross AND ran well or medaled in the Olympics or Worlds in track.
I get the lack of prize money- they're pros and have to earn a living but the peaking thing?
Ask Lopes, DeCastella, Debele, Ngugi ...
He turns 40 in September, and NAZ Elite's website lists him as an assistant coach/pacer. Good luck to him.
Seems like an odd coincidence that NAZ Elite's entire paid staff shown on the website (i.e., not counting the intern) is two Bens, a Jen, a Jenna, and a Jennifer.
In the years that we don't have to pick a World Cross team, these USATF XC championships are a great opportunity for the up and coming runners to showcase their talents. I know that if USATF threw a little more prize money into the pot you would get more of our top guys/gals showing up, however, they should figure out how to 'spread the wealth' to the sub-elites. Some runner's need more years to develop (Verdon) vs. a talented out-of-college star and a little prize money can go a long way.
XC is a great discipline by itself, but could also be used as a springboard to the next level.
Hoping for a little play by play, TIA.
How's the feed?
anyone have a pirated stream or wanna split the cost and give me a login credential? I'm too cheap to justify $13 / month for 2-4 hours of content that I'll watch.
five person pack right now - kelati, Monson, Infeld, rogers, durgin. Seidel in like 9th.
No sound on the stream?
