This is a very impressive study! Hopefully, it will lead to a fast-tracked clinical trial to see if either of these weight loss drugs effectively stop Covid as an early treatment. A highly effective treatment would negate the need for continued vaccinations in all but the high risk populations.

Agreed. Dysregulated metabolism is common in viral infections. Gotta get that energy to make trillions of virons from somewhere!
I don’t think metabolic target have ever been investigated as anti-virals though? Someone correct me if I am wrong. Would be interesting.
As a caveat lots of cells lines and mono layer culture in general has non-physiological metabolism. Cells get way way more oxygen in monolayer culture then they do in the body. Furthermore they used a embryonic kidney cell line and a lung cancer cell line - both known to have messed up metabolic states already… The biochemical data is interesting though!

Paxlovid is highly effective already. The US has not approved a 4th shot for a vast majority of people yet. 3 vaccine doses is very normal for a typical series.

Looks like a widespread 4th shot will likely be an updated vaccine, which is plenty justification for “continued vaccination” as it’s keeping up with strain shifts in the virus.

Dr Yaakov Nahmias found the virus hijacks the cells and turns them into cholesterol factories so the virus has a supply of fat to make the fatty ball containing all the nasty viral proteins. He found in vitro that introducing a common anti-cholesterol drug, killed the virus by stopping it from replicating due to lack of fat.

Of course, his treatment was sidetracked like all the other proven treatments.

Pharmacist here. I guess I wouldn’t call it the “vast majority” of people but we’re administering lots of 4th doses right now. CDC website recommends it for anyone over 50 or for anyone over 18 who is immunocompromised. Anyone can make an appointment online to get a 4th dose. No documentation needed.

Only one dose of J&J for me so far. Seems like the benefit is questionable for younger people on the boosters to me. Even less benefit for healthy active children as far as I can tell. Mine are not vaccinated for now.

For the average, overweight, sedentary, patient I see with multiple health conditions, getting vaccinated and boosted is a no brainer. Can’t believe some of the 300 pound folks coming in over the past year talking about how it was all a hoax. 🤦‍♂️
