As of today I ran 10 by 400 in 71 with 2 minute rest. Felt super comfortable, didn’t need to dig at all, I didn’t want the workout to be too hard because it is early in the season. Say later in the season I want to work up to doing 10 by 400 in 66 with 1 minute rest (obviously at a much higher effort ). How would y’all go about progressing from the first workout to the second. Should I first cut the rest, then once it’s at 1 minute then cut the paces? Should I cut the paces then once at 66, try to cut down the rest? Cut both at the same time very gradually? How do people really approach building up a key workout for training. I am training for the mile, have a good base of 5000+ lifetime miles (in the past 2 years), and am not injury prone.
