This is my first year coaching high-school girls distance runners in indoor track.
Suppose you have a brand new runner. It's her first year on the team. She has some athletic ability and past experience in other sports (soccer, basketball, gym class, etc) but you don't know too much about it. She did no running before Day 1 of Practice.
How many miles per week / days per week do you start her off with?
My primary goal is to keep them healthy and enjoy the sport enough to come back the next season.
