Ok I had about 7 years of injury free running in Nike Skylons, I switched to Asics in August and have had really bad heel, achilles problems since. I have small calcium deposits on my heels (mild haglunds) which gave me a little bother but not much. Now my heels are inflamed and sore and its affecting my achilles on both feet. Physio reckons its because of the shape of Asics heel cups and he has seen it many times before. Heel padding starts out soft but after 6/7 runs compresses and leaves a fairly harsh plastic feel against the heel, he says that the wide heel cup of asics shoes causes friction/movement and exagerates the problem.... anyone had similar experiences? Now doing excentric calf loading exercises to try and elimanate the problem.
