I just listened to a podcast with Randy Huntington (track and field coach, current head coach for the Chinese national track team) where he claims that stretching the achilles can reduce elastic energy returns and make you a poorer sprinter and jumper. I've been stretching my achilles for a while in order to increase my ankle mobility for squats and to reduce load on my knees, but am I diminishing my power generation by doing so?
