I just finished a Half marathon at 01:34:38, a new PR by a little over a minute, but given I was training towards 01:31:32 a little disappointing. I know where I went wrong with race craft, lost the 1:30 pacers at the start and burned myself up in the first 6k trying to find them in the chaos of the start (never did) and paid for it the rest of the race. Going into the race I felt good. Hit all my workouts going into the race but was running lower volume than normal, around ranging between 42-81kpw over the 10 weeks leading into the race, alot of due to the weather outside (I live in a tropical area, extreme humidity and heat until mid Nov.).
Now the weather is cool (15-25c) and won't be an issue.
My previous 12 week build was 1 hard speed workout a week, 1 tempo, fartlek, hill workout. 1 long run 18-24k usually (weather depending) and the rest easy, running 6 days a week.
I have another half coming up in about 55 days.
What is going to be the most bang for my buck to get to 01:31 or under in the next 55 days?
I do plan on bumping my weekly running up to 100-115kpw while the weather is cool here, low 30c temps will be back by mid/late April.
