We put this on our Friday 15 Supporters Club podcast yesterday but I don't think we said anything about it on the site. Mantz confirmed to us he is racing, but said he is not targeting the American record.
No word on whether Mantz has a pro contract.
FYI, LRC offered to pay Mantz to wear our jersey in the race with a 5 figure bonus if he broke the American record. His agent Ray Flynn said, "Unfortunately this is not an option."
A couple things.
1. Who in the world ever said he was targeting an AR? No one except you. It was ignorant and irresponsible by LETSRUN. Just another example of the disconnect between this website and Pro running.
2. He signed with Adidas and everyone knows this. Where have you been LETSRUN?

If the agent said he couldn't be sponsored by LRC for a day or week, it makes the Adidas claim this poster threw out there believable. I guess we'll see races picks soon; let's see if he has 3 stripes!

as for the pro contract there has been no announcement to my knowledge which was 3 hours ago when I was last on the net. Nothing from Ray or on Connerâs insta. From talking to him I assume he does have. a deal if heâs racing tomorrow.

You don’t seem to understand. He never said he was going to “try to break” (it’s “try to break” not “try and break” fml), only that he was thinking about it. Then YOU post that headline, then Rojo goes on an insane rant comparing Mantz to Tom Brady and Frank Lara to a backup QB.

I don’t want to be condescending but they headline is 100% accurate. ‘May’. We reported it accurately. The fact Mantz said he’s was contemplating it this weekend was very big news imo.

Announcing you are going for the AR ahead of time or contemplating it is lame anyway. Talk is cheap. Anyone can say they are making a record attempt. People should just stop with their AR record attempt talk.
I don't recall Ryan Hall making any declaration before he went for it. He just showed up and took care of business. That's how it usually happens.
