The qualifying window opens 1/1/2022 for marathon performances and 1/1/2023 for half marathon performances. No date/location announced yet for the Trials.
For comparison, the standards in 2020 were 64:00/2:19:00 for the men and 73:00/2:45:00 for the women.

The announcement is unclear on a couple fronts: the A/B standard thing, and also the rules for eligible courses. I assume there is more detail to come?
The window for qualifying begins January 1, 2022.
It massively cuts the women's field - any faster and you're looking at a few tens of women qualifying

Wow they really changed course for the women. 500+ was way too many. I bet this will get this down around 200 participants.

What's your issue with it? According to IAAF rankings 30 US women met that marathon standard this year, and 31 men did. As for the half standard, last trials 2 men entered with a sub 1:03 half and 3 women entered with a sub 1:12. These standards if accurate seem designed to get equal numbers of men and women, with fields I would guess around 60 each.

Did they announce certain courses not being allowed (CIM, Grandma's, etc.) like the rumor said they might?

Men’s standard quite fast. Are there even 100 men who can meet those standards?
Try more like fields of about 200 each

There will be. These are the B standards, there will be A standards that are faster. According to Michael Scott on Twitter all the fine details will be released next week

200 total ? 100 women and 100 men
My guess is we will have 200 men and 200 women who qualify. In 2020 using these standards we would have had about 150 men and 90 women. But athletes will set their goals higher to aim for these more difficult standards, and many will get them. So that is how I get to about 200 on each side

Time will tell. I think it'll be in the 200 range for both men and women. 243 men last time with a standard 1 minute slower. 465 women with a standard 8 minutes looser. The women's field will probably be a bit smaller than the men, but I guess we'll see.
