Was his birthday this week. Happy birthday, Kam.

Yeah he can run under 2 hours for 25.9 miles possibly. For a full marathon he has no chance.

No, you can't!

Theoretically he maybe can run a sub 2 hour Marathon. My 2 x half Marathon time + 5 min, will give at least 2 x 58 +5min = 2:01possible. Future will tell....
To be fair to Kam, here's the exact quote with context. It wasn't framed as arrogantly:
At some point in future, I’ll make a full transition to the marathon. I’m no longer focusing on cross country. I’ll continue to do half marathons as part of marathon preparation, but my focus now is on the marathon. And I really think I can break the marathon world record in the future and run under two hours. That’s the legacy I’d like to leave when I end my career; it would inspire many people around the world.
And here's the video from earlier this year where he discusses the injury:
Just like when he guaranteed he’d beat Mo Farah in the Olympics 10k.

Everybody beat him at the Olympics. Off day for him.

That formula never works for your athletes and is too generous for faster runners and not generous enough for slower runners.
Accomplished Coach Canova’s 4-5% slower formula js much more accurate. That being said, the marathon is a metabolic event and some people are better designed for the shorter distances.
JS, you never get tired to write the same stuff again and again, right? To get some publicity here. The same simplifications and banalities of 2x hm +5m, the 400m with rest to 120bpm and 3, 4 other recipes you think apply to everyone in the same way?
Amazing runner. I hope he achieves his goals.

He can run his MOUTH for 2 hours I'm sure. Best trash talker in the sport, we need more like him.
But we need at least one of the trash talkers to live up to their hype, none of them ever do.

Alberto did.
No love for the birthday cake?

The last guy to run the unofficial sub 2 is a marathon GOAT, and had all the help he needed to achieve that feat. Not even the best illegal pharmacist is the world will help anybody achieve an official sub 2, never ever.

+1
I don't think it's happening in the next 50 years.
Kipchoge reign as the marathon goat may have a shorter life span than you predict.
It’s not hard to see that there is a host of top distance runners (Kiplimo, Kandie, Cheptegei, Barega, Aregawi, Kamworor, Kipruto, and Mutiso) who all have the speed to break 2 hours. While each one has a low probability of becoming the next Kipchoge, the probability that one of these guys makes the transition well is more likely than not. All of these runners have sub 58 half marathon speed and just need to improve efficiency and they will be able to crack it.
I actually believe it. This dude has done some phenomenal things in his career and put down some fast times. He is Kipchoge's right hand man and trains regularly with him.
If he actually can't, I bet he can get close.
what's the big deal? I run under two hours every day
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
