There were supposed to be 2 guys (and 2 Princeton alumns) to run the 1st and 50th but Jim Isenberg was tragically paralyzed by a wave in Australia in 2017.

Also worth noting that Paul Fetscher will be running Sunday for his 49th consecutive NY marathon (he missed the first).
Paul ran 2:21 back in the day and maybe faster. Here's an interview from a couple years ago:

That's the story we should talk about.
Running consistently for so long is quite a feat.
Competed against Fetscher back in the day...a bit behind him most of the time. Fascinating to read that he's still going...but then again so am I.
How do you tell that someone went to Princeton?

That Runners World cover of the Falmouth Road Race with Fletcher on it is iconic. And Jock Semple was a jerk to many runners. Kept me from getting an earned medal at a race when I was in high school, despite trying to argue with him about it. He gave it to a runner in his club instead. At least he didn’t rip up my birth certificate m!

It would make this site more interesting if your team would crack these stories and interview these people.
