The Nike Victory 5 XC are great, but make sure to size up in them. The upper doesn't hold any water which is great. I enjoyed the Saucony Carrera XC4, but the top eyelets tend to blow out after a season. Those New Balance are good with socks, but aren't very good sockless, which is how I run. They also hold water. If you're on a golf course, the Nike Mamba V are great, but they'll get torn up on rocks because they're track spikes. I also wouldn't recommend them if you're new to spikes, they're aggressive. The Nike Victory XC 3 are great but are very hard to find. There's the Dragonflies of course, but I'd save those for the track. The grass provides plenty of cushioning in my experience. My overall ranking:
1. Victory XC 3
2. Victory XC 5
3. Mamba V
4. Carrera XC4
5. NB XC5Kv5

^^^^^ This is great advice from wikid pissah.
I think he nailed it perfectly. I am using my Victory XC 5 in a couple of weeks for our USATF regional XC meet. I am also am saving my Dragonflys for the track, but in a pinch they would work too.
