The worst part of this story is that Pete Julian was surprised, or baffled, by her results in her last race. He said that the results were not indicative of what here workouts were showing. Pete seems to be part of the problem.
So they're either lying about the workouts or she has a sort of mental block.
I had a mental block one season because I had unrealistic expectations for myself and would quickly get in my head and basically defeat myself when things didn't go perfect and I under performed in every 5k race by at least 30 seconds compared to what I should have run based on the fitness I had shown in workouts.
I suspect something similar may be effecting Jordan. She peaked young, but still thinks can get back to low 220s so she sets unrealistic goals and gets in her head and underperformed. If she got in a better head space and set more realistic goals I think she could get back to 2:29-2:32 range, but that's all I think she's capable of now.
