Could a foreign government try to destroy the US by buying up real estate and apartment buildings thus driving up the cost of living? Creating a housing shortage and making the average person forced to spend all of their income on housing.

Of course not.
But foreign investors are doing that for a long time.
The biggest problem is that current zoning laws and missing government incentives prevent that a lot more housing needs to be build. There is a huge shortage for a long time.
A foreign government might try to create division in the US by spreading propaganda online, exploiting existing divisions and mistrust amount people of different socio-economic groups and political affiliations to the point where Americans think their fellow Americans are the enemy, that the press, schools, doctors and scientists, and government institutions and courts all cannot be trusted.
Then, they would just have to sit back and watch as we tear our country apart ourselves.

Hypothetically.....maybe but would just create discomfort for people for awhile. The US could do what the Saudi's did when foreign countries were taking their oil, nationalize that asset and kick them out of the country.

This was already tried. Luckily last November the President was voted out of office and Biden was elected. He still refuses to accept that he was dismissed. A one term President. He and his puppet masters will be back to try to put him in the White House in 2024.
