can't read due to paywall but my first thought was how did he, as a resident, get the money to do all these marathons? It can't be cheap-entry fees, lodging, food, flights.

Residents aren't destitute. This whole thing won't cost more than a couple of thousand bucks, and that's if he travels in style.
I can't read it as I'm not a Globe subscriber but this is unreal if he gets it.
1) What's his PB?
2) Does he need me to go hand him water in Baltimore? They are going cupless this year and it's crazy they are expected to carry their own water. I'm not sure if that means there will be no elite water stations but if that's true, then I'll be happy to at least go to one location and give him a drink so he doesn't have to slow down.

Eight races between 2:25 and 2:29 since 2017. Zero chance he runs under 2:30 in more than one.
There is nothing impressive about running three marathons in three days.
Forty years ago, Terry Fox ran just under marathon distance every day for 143 days. He did it with an above the knee amputation and cancer crawling through his body. And he didn't do it to get his picture in the newspaper.
Sadly, this attention seeker will get more publicity than the male/female who win any of the three races.

Residents gets paid $50-80k/year. A few domestic flights + a few nights hotel + 3 registrations is not exactly a budget buster. And maybe he has a spouse that works as well.
Just click the button and the subscription ask goes away. Not worth the read anyhow. Very impressive for any resident, let alone Ortho to work the hours they do and train.

It's not a lot for the effort, but it's more than I got paid 11 years ago. The average gets $64,000
Someone should pay Martin Hehir to do the same trifecta but OTQ 3 days in a row. Isn’t he also a doctor? (And ran 2:08 last winter)
And yes I know what his wife does, but he's still doing "ok" to afford a few races with or without his wife's salary.

You know that he's a Doctor, you didn't randomly pull his occupation out of thin air.
You also know what he ran at the Marathon Project.

2;08 sounds so much faster than 2:08.59

Terry fox definitely did it to get his picture in the newspaper. That was literally his whole purpose, to raise awareness and fundraise for cancer. Publicity was his goal.
How the heck does this guy have time to train as an ortho resident? Didn’t think they left the hospital.

Not likely with a 2:25 PR. Maybe sub 2:40.
Great result if so. I highly doubt he does so. I'm surprised if he completes 2.

That's impressive, but running the distance and running within 5 minutes of your PR three consecutive days isn't the same thing. Can't really compare the two.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
