Hey Letsrun,
Chicago marathon policy requires negative test result taken no earlier than Oct 7. My plane departs on 1 am oct 08 and I also had to take a PCR test to be able to enter the US. The labs around me only offer 24 h PCR and pm sampling time slots, so I had to take this one on 6th. Now when I looked at testing options available in Chicago, my mind was blown. Free, but only drive-through (no walking allowed), or outrageous prices like $140 , or a self-test that only works with smartphone app only available to US users, or 48 h wait, and so on.
So maybe someone could help set this straight. Are there walk-on locations in Chicago that would offer aliens with a foreign passport rapid tests that are reasonably priced or free? I found this one

but it looks a touch sketchy (grammar errors that can be spotted by non-native english speaker in an official text, really?)
Before someone brings that up, vaccine option is not available for me. I'm vaxed but not with a FDA authorised vaccine. My other alternative would be taking a test at the airport before departure which would cost about $50 but I'm not 100% certain about FDA approval for local tests.
