The announcer on the elite field said the women's only WR would be an "iconic moment" in womens distance running history.
I can't agree.

On 2:17:06 pace right now, well on pace to break women's only WR of 2:17:01. Seems likely to go down as they've got 5 on pace, the question is who will take it

Same top 6 for men at 30K. They haven't slowed at all, 2:02:50 pace.

Also the online leaderboard doesn't show any mile splits (let alone KM splits like in Berlin) nor do they even show split times for 5K, just elapsed. So I wrote this script earlier during the race grabbing that from the api which I've been using to post updates in this thread
Amazing. Last year, they had mile by mile split. This year nothing. Habs to the rescue.
Looks like comms have mile splits because the men split a 4:25. Titus Ekiru abruptly pulls out at 1:19!!
Titus Eriku (sp??) dropped out
Pace has slowed. Remember.I said the final 5 miles would be into the wind.

I'm taking that 4:25 split on faith, we'll see if it reflects in their 25-30K split. Looked like an injury for Ekiru, not sure if he's formally dropped out but he came to a complete stop
What great running by Charlotte Purdue...saw her absolutely smash the best Aussies at World XC trials in January 2019. Oh yea the Aussies as a team placed 5th at Worlds. What were the selection committee thinking by leaving her off the marathon team. I Fu*&^ing hate selection committees.
I hope she has a blinder!

Kosgei and Saltpepper both falling back, guess the Olympics took a lot out of them.
women 35K: Jepkosgei is really taking it, putting on the hurt. She's really pulling away. They've slowed and women's only WR looks out of reach, 2:17:23 pred. time. Things are starting to string out.

I'm just watching the NTV (Kenya) feed, no vpn needed though I've been told it may only work on firefox? Though I think they have same commentators as BBC, mara yamauchi is the female comm and the male commentator was the one who mentioned the 4:25 men's split earlier.
https://ntv.nation.co.ke/ke/liveMen at 30K have paced well but should slow down now as women did. Mosinet Geremew has dropped, still on pace for a 2:02:50 but considering course I think they'll be trying to break 2:03
