He's announcing his next steps on his YouTube channel at 2. I'm not surprised at all.
My guess is he'll have his dad coach him. I could be very wrong though. I don't imagine he'll get another contract. Possibly become the next Seth Demoor?

Leaving implies it was his decision. My guess is “kicked out of the Brooks Beasts” is more accurate. It clearly wasn’t working for him, but it’s kind of sad to see all the same.
He's probably applying to law school.

What a nothing burger, it's like what has he done? Ran good times at 800/1500, but hasn't really improved much post college(even on the national level he isn't a contender). Probably only has a contract due to his social media (nothing wrong with that). But I think he just needs to get serious with training or just retire to hobby jogging.

But on the Spencer issue - He should have used the Covid period to get significantly stronger in the weight room and get miles in. Instead he used it to reinforce the impression that he was an immature user of other, more talented people. I have no idea if that was the case, but there aren't a lot of examples of him appearing to act like an adult.

I never put in enough mileage and base work right out of college, and instead would run 5x400 or something really fast, because I could. Injuries kept me down most of 2-3 years, but I'd run fast when I could, then life got in the way.
Nothing to show for it, other than a couple really sparkling workouts with nobody else around.

I don't think that's worth as much you think it's worth. Spencer kinda seems like the kid with bad grades.
He definitely didn’t leave on his own. Didn’t he get some kind of try out contract or something like that? He was never good enough to be an actual professional runner and proved that so he didn’t earn a spot on brooks beast

Yeah pretty much.
When he announced, he basically said Brooks signed him to train with Brooks Beasts Track Club for 12ish months. Plan was to get pro training, racing, etc and document it. Obviously, the ideal plan was to continue progressing and become a 3:53, 1:46 guy.
It didn't happen, for 1 or 100 reasons. Covid, illness, injury, bad luck, etc. Brown still has the wheels and could very likely thrive under different training than what Mackey did.
Everybody has been all up in arms because of the social media profile. How long does it take to film, edit and post a video a week? They are pro runners, you do your workouts and than need to rest, you can be working on your computer while resting? I think it is nice to see some behind the scenes of some of these running clubs.
I follow him on Strava, you can tell how he was discribing his recent workouts that he seems happier doing what he is doing. He had some success in college, maybe getting back to doing what he was doing will help.
I wonder what will happen to Ally O now?
