Dear Letsrun,
My right foot has a flat arch, duck foot posture, and the inabality to dorsiflex (but not from calf tightness, I think it is from the front of my foot pinching). Furthermore, the right outside of my right foot is tighter (tibialis anterior tendon?)
I think that this has led to right calf atrophy (I cant fully dorsiflex so my calf isn't used as much).
I think that this has also led to rightness in my hip flexor and adductor, as I cannot balance nearly as well on my right foot.
I think the origin of this is that I had it band pain on my left side and then compensated by putting more force on my right side.
My current plan:
Banded knee to wall stretch (I don't see how this helps, but apparently helps ankle slide).
Arch raises
Clamshells
Side leg raises
hip hikes
side of foot and top of foot stretch
plantarflex stretch
posterior tibialis strengthening
Does anybody have any tips? I think that this has compounded over the course of a year to a pretty bad functional leg length discrepancy. (I have read that duck footed posture can lead to fat pad atrophy, which I have on my right side. This along with a fallen arch and tight hips makes running feel like one leg is longer than the other.)
Any comments or suggestions are appreciated!
Thank you very much!
