He may finish third. one hour, 55 min in. I am calling it, end of his chances to be the best.

He is 39…yes his open days as a potential WR holder are over but a 2:06 at age 39 is unreal!!!
London was the end of Kipchoge lmao
He literally just won the olympics in dominant fashion though???
Bekele is done.
2:01.41 was his chance to get the record.
He can still run a 2:04 or thereabout but not the world record. Time is against him.
I'm gonna go ahead and bet on the 1/100 chance he doesn't retire in the next year or two and ends up running 2:01 at age 40 lol
Bekele is still at a good level bit his pace was too fast today. In my opinion, he's still able to win a World Major Marathon but the WR is out of his league now.
He should considering to retire with a great win, he has so many injuries.
You guys called it. Is he still running New York?

It was too warm to attempt a WR. He shouldn’t of let the pace be that fast. It was a pacing mistake for sure. He should of just run to win. Had he gone out in 63 then i think he would of been able to come back on 62. But he really wanted to swing at that WR. Can’t blame him because Berlin is only the place now you can do it. He just got unlucky with the warmth.
Bekele has had a lot of sub par for his ability performances over the years. Every time we think he’s done and then he pops an unbelievable performance. Don’t count the guy out until he officially hangs them up.
When I saw 2:06, 3rd place I wondered the same thing. Sounds like it was too hot for a world record.
You're right. He should of
GOAT had a rough day. Pace was fast, he is getting old and today the weather was far from ideal for that kind of pace. They still went through half way in 60:48 with KB 10-12 sec behind. He didn’t quit and finished third. He deserves all the respect in the world.
This man has been racing at this level for about 20 years that’s incredible.
Hopefully his legs will be 90% ready for NYC marathon.
Adola started faster than Bekele and still finished faster, holding off Yegon's late charge. He was clearly the best man on the field today. But this was a (relatively) weak field.

Warm and sunny. Regardless of dew point it was too much to ask to expect a super fast time.
He ran a good race anyway. I hope he can build on this.

Yes that is a great result at age 39 on a warm day, just remember Father Time is undefeated.
Doughnut Bekele is DONE! 🍩
This Berlin Marathon was a hot race that hit everyone harder than they expected. I wouldn't read too much into this performance.
All respect is due to KB for grinding out a 3rd. But yes, he’s never going to win another marathon major against a reasonable field and he will certainly not be breaking any records unless your talking age group ones.

I think this guy is alluding to how people won’t respect your opinions as much if you repeatedly use “of” where a “have” belongs.
Too hot for a WR, look how cold it was 2019 Berlin. If he can still run WR pace for the first half in that heat then he can still run WR on a cooler day.
