How will Bekele go: World Lead?
How will Bekele go: World Lead?
Actually the runners start at like 9:15am so about 69 hours. Weather in Germany is pretty nice for running
World lead is currently just under 2:03.... 2:02:57 if I am correct, from Milan on 16th May. Titus Ekiru.
Bekele could, if he is 99% fit, get a 2:02:55. Just about. Don't expect a WR, especially if he is even half serious about NYC, but a race sub-2:03 followed by NYC in about 2:08.... just within bounds of reason. NYC won't be fast - 2:08 could be plenty, as on many years previously.
More likely a 2:04-low for the win, is my prediction. To nail a number on it, 2:04:02 for symmetry.

All the big questions here: Berlin women’s favourite, Hiwot Gebrekidan, already holds the WL; but will she have a top 5 time by year’s end?
Valencia in December are spruiking that they have 120 men with times under 2.20 and 130 women sub 2.50. Will they have the deepest run ever?
We've been waiting forever for this, really.
Adola FTW.

I imagine Reuben Kipyego will be one of the favourites in Valencia. Where is Salpeter running over the fall? Will Worknesh Degefa be back?
* 2nd WMM of the year, actually.
... first WMM of the season, I guess?
Possibilities depending on raceday:
1) Perfect race: 2:02:XX for the WL
2) Solid but imperfect conditions: 2:04:02
3) Too slow to get the win? DNF
I think #2 most likely, followed by more hype for KB vs EK 2022. I want to be proven wrong and see the WR - but how can he do a legit WR attempt and race NYC???

DNF after he falls off the pace
