My daughter is in the 8th grade and on the middle school cross country team. This year a 7th grade boy is on the girls roster. Me and a few other parents tried discussing it with the coach and she wouldn't even let us broach the subject with her and referred us to the principle. We were told by the principle that it should not be an issue as we were talking about 7th and 8th graders and if we felt the need to take it up at the next school board meeting a week from next Tuesday. Turns out this "boy" is a pretty good runner. The first meet he ran a 12:24 2 mile. 2nd place girl came in at 14:37. He would have been 2nd in the boys race had he been in it. This is ridiculous and I'm afraid nothing will be done by our school. No one seems to care. We have yet to meet the boys parents as the coach takes him home after practice every day and they weren't at our first meet. It made me sick seeing that kid on the podium with his first place medal standing next to all the girls. The top returning girl quit the team yesterday and her mother said they were looking into private school. What the hell?! This like the twilight zone. Hopefully we'll get somewhere at the board meeting but I'm not too optimistic.
