I was interested to see that seemingly all the competitors in the Yakima road mile wore super shoes. I was under the impression that super shoes were for road 10k and up, and that their main advantage was saving the legs, and that they could actually be slower for 5k and under because they are so pillowy.
Are they now considered FASTER for events as short as a mile?
Or are they considered speed “neutral” for a mile but the legs don’t feel as trashed afterwards?
I can’t imagine the pros racing for cash would choose something slower just to save the legs.
Do super shoes provide a propulsive advantage in shorter events?
