I'm an experienced runner. I've run a 2:54 marathon and sub 17 5k. I do about 80k a week on average. I use a Garmin Forerunner 235 and Garmin chest strap HRM. I've noticed erratic heart rate readings recently. In the last month, despite 2 hard races where I did a 5k and 5 mile PBs, my heart rate did not raise over 150 per the garmin app. This is despite working to my max intensity all out . I've checked the battery and applied water to ensure good fit on the strap. All reading look fine but the heart rate do not peak.
It my be part of the picture, but often before that the next day after hard session my heart rate will soar for the first 10 minutes of an easy recovery run and then drop sharply and stable to 140-145. Max heart rate was about 180-182 based on prior observations (I'm male age 45).
I've had heart assessments for Bradycardia from local doctor following company medical and all was good after hospital scans, Any ideas?
