Besides, that was easy to see her hesitancy in the first 10 - 20 yards.

It's not like she suddenly turned 40 and got slow.

She still has all the speed in the world.

And she's got a lot more to show and I'll be happy to see it.

No, her fans clearly don’t like it. That’s why she’s gone from being worshipped to clowned over the span of two months.

She’s arrogant, disrespectful, unsportsmanlike, and has embarrassed the country and her teammates by not being able to resist the urge to smoke weed, bomb out of the olympics, say she was America’s only chance, then talking about how she’s gonna blow the doors off of everyone and never give up only to DFL the 100m and give up on the 200m.

I cannot see how people see her as some kind of poster child for USA track or any kind of positive influence. She takes her gift for granted and is anything but humble.

I know it’s harsh but that’s what I see.

Yup, she has a “ghetto brat” personality. People seem to easily like aggressive, bratty personalities who sound more refined in an upper middle class sort of way. Or hail from the hood but appear humble and strong. But a brat from the hood doesn’t get the same break.

Yeah. A bad one. The presence of a trait does not make that trait desirable.

Probably a sign of the times that so many are willing to excuse crass, juvenile behavior as "Having a personality."

Granted, that’s a legitimate criticism (with the caveat that she may have honestly not realized how seriously THC is taken), but the hate parade seems to have tuned into a new extra high gear today. All she did today was to say something like “I’m not done, don’t count me out..” in a ghetto twang after running poorly, but running poorly or even DNF’ing happens to the best on a bad day.

Still love and expect big things from Sha'Carri. This was the first time I've seen her look scared at the start. Next time she won't be.

I'm not surprised that her personality is polarizing here, but it's disturbing to see so many people root against someone who is arguably the biggest sprint talent America has had in decades.

Agree. People hate on her because she sounds like she’s from the hood but is not humble, and that combination for some reason is not allowed.

I don't see her as arrogant.

She's putting on act. she wants approval and thinks that's how she can get.

Her personality is almost identical to Trump. It's gross. The last thing people want is little girls growing up being insanely self-absorbed and completely incompetent and illiterate. Heaven forbid a girl ever look up to or take cues from someone like Shacarri. Same can be said for Trump.

I think you need to learn to distinguish personality from behaviour.

Here in Europe, people are shocked by the way she behaves and e presses herself. She comes across as someone really badly brought up, with no manners, who is trashy. Thats because of the way she speaks and the things she says. It's clear that she doesn't come from a background where success is normal, and she clearly needs some help in dealing with it that she isn't currently getting. Plenty of people come from humble backgrounds but do not behave like trash.

Dina Asher Smith is another sprinter who can be arrogant on TV, because listening to someone telling the audience how wonderful they are repeatedly isn't very great, but she's only about 20% as bad as Richardson, and has clearly been brought up a bit better.

Personality is about far more than that. Her behaviour is awful, her personality might be fine.
