Scanning for fun matchups beyond the headliners.
Muhammad v Little in 400mh
Women's steeple final rematch pretty much
SCR listed in both 100 and 200m
2mile women's is stacked. 5000 will be Hassan running solo.
Rai Benjamin in the 200m
Moh Ahmed dropping down to the mile. Who wins the Bowerman battle Centro v Ahmed?
Barega v Cheptegei again in the 2 mile.
800 is interesting. Korir vs Murphy vs Dustin
1500 will hopefully be a barn burner. With Jakob and Tim it should be. Hopefully weather cooperates and they run 3:45 or less. Mcsweyn should rock here too! Can Centro bet Heyward & Hoare??
2 mile has Fisher, Kincaid, & Klecker. Wow!
People always say miles will be fast, and they never end up in 3:46 or faster territory. I would like to see one. They rarely happen.
The big question I have is will there be wavelight?
Because if there is then Hassan doesn't need a pacemaker at all - in fact running at 10pm PST when the conditions will be about as good for running as worldly possible, an actual pacemaker could really on botch things vs the perfection of the lights. If there is I have no doubt she runs the WR, no doubt at all.
The mens mile is clearly going to be awesome - running at 3pm isn't great but again if there lights and the pacemaker actually uses them properly I don't see why we won't see something around the 3.46.0 range plus/minus a half second. We wouldn't have seen a mile that fast since Alan Webbs AR back in 2007
No doubt? 3:54 equivalent with no pacer is hardly a given for anyone.
Chelimo wins the 2 mile in 8:06:50
Have you looked at the 16 guys racing in the 2 mile?
Wowza.
WR attempt perhaps?
Alexa E is pacing the North American 1500.
Friday night will be free o usatf.tv. No need to consider going over the pass for the races.

WR is 7:58 Komen… I doubt that gets broken. If no pacer it will end up being a 8:15 to 8:20 race
The 2 mile is the most pointless event on track. No one gives a damn. Run a 3000 which at least has some global standing. Cheptegei could run a world record in the 2 mile and it would barely cause a ripple in the sport. Running it is a complete waste of the talent by the Pre organisers
It is an American event so they have to do their mile things.

Could we get 5 or 6 women under the time of the second best ever woman, mercy cherono?
I notice ShaCarri Richardson doesn't duck competition. During the Olympics qualifying finals. She was the only one to let out a cheer when a runner was permitted to run after being dq from a false start in the semifinals. Now she's racing the 100 and 200.

I bet she scratches the 2.
Great field! Thanks for the post. Can't wait to watch

I love the 2 mile.
I am not expecting much from the mile, just from
ahistorical view- these races are seldom spectacular.
I prefer Jakob had moved up and thrown down w the big dogs in the 2 mile.

I bet she scratches the 2.
Especially if she runs something sick in the 100m
